The Prototype Core Team
Current Members
These people work on the Prototype code base right now:
-
Sam Stephenson
Sam created the Prototype JavaScript framework in February of 2005 as part of the foundation for Ajax support in Ruby on Rails. He lives in Chicago, writes web applications for 37signals, and tumblelogs on Projectionist.
-
Thomas Fuchs (madrobby)
Thomas is a software architect from Vienna, Austria. He is the author of script.aculo.us, a cross-browser JavaScript framework featuring advanced Ajax UI controls, visual effects and other nice things. Thomas wrote the “Web 2.0” chapter in the Agile Web Development with Rails book. He’s available for hire as a consultant for rich web user interfaces and JavaScript.
-
Andrew Dupont (savetheclocktower)
Andrew Dupont is a web front-end developer living and working in Austin, Texas. He has been using Prototype extensively since late 2005 and can often be found in its IRC channel as savetheclocktowr. He is the author of Practical Prototype & script.aculo.us, published by Apress.
-
Tobie Langel (tobie)
Tobie Langel is a freelance front-end developer and UI designer currently based in Geneva, Switzerland.
-
Christophe Porteneuve (TDD)
Christophe Porteneuve has been a virulent standardista since 2002, discovered Ruby and Rails in 2005, and wrote the world’s first book with extensive coverage of Prototype and script.aculo.us, which, so far, exists only in French… He’s also the author of Prototype and script.aculo.us: You never knew JavaScript could do this!, published by The Pragmatic Programmers. He’s been very active in the Prototype community since August 2005.
-
Juriy Zaytsev (kangax)
Juriy Zaytsev is a front-end web developer from New York. He’s the creator of Scripteka, a compendium of Prototype extensions. When not digging through cross-browser quirks, Juriy blogs about everything Prototype on his blog, Perfection Kills.
Core Team Alumni
These people are honorary members, former members, and dormant members of the Prototype team. While they do not currently write code for Prototype, they’re still triumphant human beings.
-
Justin Palmer (Caged)
Justin is an interaction designer from Portland, Oregon. He was one of the first to start documenting Prototype on his blog AlternateIdea (formerly EncyteMedia). He’s co-founder of Active Reload, LLC., and co-creator of Lighthouse and Mephisto. He’ll also stomp you at Gears of War.
-
Dan Webb (DanWrong)
Dan Webb is a London-based freelance web developer who’s previous clients have included Orange, Nike, Microsoft and Sainsbury’s but more recently has been responsible for coding Vivabit’s Event Wax, The Low Pro library for Prototype and the Unobtrusive JavaScript plugin for Rails. He’s written for A List Apart, HTMLDog and .NET magazine and spoken at some conferences. He also collects Hip Hop vinyl and DJs if he’s feeling dexterous.
-
Scott Raymond
Scott is a web developer from Kansas City, Missouri. He works at Firewheel Design, where he helps develop Blinksale and IconBuffet. Scott is the author of Ajax on Rails and Prototype Quick Reference (with Sergio Pereira), published by O’Reilly.
-
Mislav Marohnić (sulien)
Mislav is a web enthusiast and standardista from Zagreb, Croatia. When he’s not writing overly-sized patches for Prototype you can usually find him teaching web standards, advocating accessibility or just enjoying the outdoors.
-
Seth Dillingham
Seth is a self employed Mac programmer and web dev from Mystic, CT. When not helping with Prototype, he puts a little bread on the table by working on BBEdit for Bare Bones Software, on Free-Conversant, or on client projects. When not working, he’s riding his bike. He once tried working and riding at the same time, but… well, he doesn’t talk about it. (Code written at 25 mph can result in surprisingly real crashes.) Seth’s primary contribution to Prototype is related to custom events.
